Football lily, flower

                       FOOTBALL LILY
Scientific name: Haemathus multiflorus
Common names: Football lily, African blood lily,              Powder puff lily 
Flowering period: June-August
Planting time: March-April
Colour: Reddish pink

     This lily plant with it's special round shape as a ball or football known commonly as football lily. It is reddish pink in colour. The flower is big with red and pink spikes and yellow specks at the ends and lasts for about a week or 10 days. It blooms once a year. The leaves are big, green and smooth and appears after flowering.
Planting: Bulbs and saplings are planted during March or April in pots filled with sand and manure. In dry region, this time is the best time for planting. Firstly the flower blooms and then leaves appear. In the winter fully green leaves changes in yellow colour and dies. Store the bulb in sand and on a dry place. Again plant this bulb at the right time and have this beautiful flower in your garden.
